I blog about environmental and social justice issues because I am very concerned about the health of the interdependent web of life of which we are a part.

Eat a Meatless Meal Once a Week

For food's ecological impact, meat means more than miles: 'buying local' has small effect on greenhouse gases.

What you eat affects global warming.

Save the planet: eat a meatless meal once a week and help reduce your carbon footprint! According to Vesanto Melina, MS, RD, (page 9, October 2009, Common Ground,) by "eliminating meat just one day per week per year, you would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the same amount as...reducing your driving by 1,000 miles." This is an easy step: just do it!
